A toy gun comprises a barrel 12, a bullet support 14 aligned with the barrel and having a passage 16 therethrough for propellant gas, an anvil 20 behind the bullet support, a hammer 22, a trigger 30, means to hold a cap at the anvil, the anvil having a hole 28 aligned with the passage, and means whereby the trigger releases the hammer to hit the cap, the bullet 32 being propelled through the barrel by the combustion gas resulting from explosion of the gas. A stud 60 on the gun pivotally mounts the hammer 22 urged forwardly by a spring 66 on the stud towards a cap strip 48 passing over a cap guide 24 from a roll on a hollow support 34. The hollow support houses a pin 76 on the gun. The pin mounts the trigger which has a side wall and bottom wall, a laterally-extending stud 80, which engages an abutment 82 on the hammer, and a rearwardly-extending arm with a pivot 86 which engages in a hole in a feed finger 26. A spring 84 engages the feed finger to urge it and the trigger forward and to pull the feed finger down. Pressing the trigger 30 moves the hammer rearwards against spring action until the abutment 82 travels past the stud 80 and is free to pivot forwardly under spring action and explode a cap on the anvil surface 20 at the rear of the bullet support cylinder. The explosive gases pass through the hole 28 in the anvil through the cylindrical passage in the bullet support 14 and propel the hollow bullet mounted on the support along the barrel. The pivot 86 on the trigger raises the finger 26 so that the edge 46 contacts the cap strip and moves it forwardly and the pawl 54 on the finger engages a ratchet tooth 52 on the cylinder mounting the supports 14 to bring the next bullet into alignment with the cap strip. The cylinder may have an end wall with apertures corresponding with the supports and may have compartments. The cylinder may pivot laterally of the gun body. A door 38 provides access to the cap roll and has an upward extension 44 for guiding the cap strip.
