Abstract

853,381. Toy pistols. CRESCENT TOY CO. Ltd. Dec. 23, 1957 [Dec. 21, 1956], No. 39055/56. Class 132(3). A cap firing toy pistol has a cylinder 16 rotated by a gear 24 engaging projections 25 at the forward end of the cylinder, this end being closed, the gear 24 being driven through a gear 22 by movement of a cap feed finger 13 which is pivoted, with frictional restraint imposed by a dished spring washer 14, Fig. 3, to a circular portion 12 of an arm 6 of a spring loaded trigger 3. The cylinder 16 is supported in a bearing in the pistol body by a forwardly extending sleeve 37 and is prevented from moving rearwardly by a downwardly extending part 44. The gears are mounted on one side of a vertical partitition 30, the other side forming a magazine for a roll of caps. On operating the trigger to feed a cap forward and trip a hammer 8, a lateral extension 20, Fig. 3, on the finger 13 rotates the gears and cylinder and in so doing is itself pivoted counterclockwise. On return of the trigger, the finger 13 is clear of the drive to the cylinder and bears against a guide surface 28 formed on the hammer 8 and is thereby pivoted clockwise against the frictional restraint to its initial position. To insert a fresh roll of caps, the pistol is opened by releasing a latch 38 which engages a pin 40, Fig. 4, and the partition 30 slid rearwardly of the cylinder under the control of a ram rod 36 which is a sliding fit in the sleeve 37. The pistol may be die-cast in two halves which are then pinned together with the assembly constituting the cylinder 16, ram rod 36 and magazine trapped in position between them. According to the Provisional Specification, the gear which rotates the cylinder may be fixedly mounted on one end of a spindle extending parallel with the axis of the pistol and fixedly by carrying at its other end a second gear which engages with the cap feed finger.
