Abstract

882,170. Moulding cable terminations. BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDER'S CABLES Ltd. Feb. 12, 1958 [Feb. 13, 1957], No. 4997/57. Class 87(2). [Also in Group XXXVI] The exposed ends of insulated conductors 2 of a plastics sheathed cable 3 are embedded in a cast body of insulating material by partially baring the ends at 4, threading them through a multi-apertured disc of polyethylene 5, pushing a short tube 6 of polyethylene or rubber over the disc to form a cylindrical mould in which the locally bared conductors are disposed, and filling the mould with a casting resin which may be an epoxy resin with a polysulphide liquid polymer and a curing agent. The tube is removed after the casting has set but the disc is left in place. Specifications 840,744 and 875,919 are referred to.
