Abstract

1,133,006. Insulators. BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDER'S CABLES Ltd. 8 June, 1967 [8 June, 1966], No. 25490/66. Heading H2C. An insulator for supporting electric conductors comprises a resin-bonded fibrous body 1 having over all or most of its length a cast covering 9 of anti-tracking, insulating material reinforced by embedded rings or apertured plates 2 which may be secured to the body 1 at spaced intervals and the covering may be in the form of sheds reinforced by the rings or plates. The plates may be in the form of centrally apertured discs or dishes each of which may taper towards its periphery to form a rounded rim and each plate may contain holes to assist in the keying of the covering. The rings or plates 2 and the body may be made of resin-bonded glass fibre and the covering may be of a cycloaliphatic epoxy resin.
