802,046. Section insulators. BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDER'S CABLES, Ltd. Jan. 14, 1957 [Jan. 13, 1956], No. 1296/56. Class 36. A section insulator for a traction system comprises a pair of end members 1, 2 joined by an insulating member 4 of resin bonded glass fibre, and a guide 9 between the members. There may be more than one insulating member disposed one above the other, the lower member 4, or members, carrying the tension exerted by contact wires connected to the end members, and the upper member 3, or members, being in compression. The upper members may also be of resin-bonded glass fibre, and the guide 9 may be of resin-bonded asbestos fibre. Specifications 495,224 and 536,478 are referred to.
