Abstract
1,176,994. Supporting overhead cables. VSESOJUENY NAUCHNO - ISSLEDOVATELSKY INSTITUT ZHELEZNODOROZHNOGO TRANSPORTA. 10 April, 1967, No. 16287/67. Heading H2C. A catenary suspension for an electric railway comprises a contact wire 11 suspended by loop cables 9 and spacers 10 from an auxiliary wire 8 suspended by sectional cables 4, 5, spring section cables 6 and spring wires 7 from a messenger cable 3 fastened to tower supports 1 by insulators 2. As shown in Fig. 3, the longitudinally slotted spacer 10 is clamped on to contact wave 11 and bolted at its upper end to the flexible cable 4 which is clamped to messenger cable 3, eyes 10a on the upper end of spacer 10 embracing the auxiliary wire 8. The spacers 10 may be made of the same bimetallic wire. as the cables. The stiff loop cables (9) embrace the auxiliary wire (8) from above (Fig. 5, not shown). The distances between spacers 10 are shorter than those between links 9 which may be equal or of gradually increasing length from the middle of the span.
