Abstract

289,805. Iten, R. May 2, 1927, [Convention date]. Systems of supporting cables and conductors.- To maintain constant the tension of overhead conductors for electric railways, a compensating pulley device is fitted at the ends of the overhead conductors. The pulley is wound with wire rope attached to the conductor, and wire rope oppositely wound on, controls the pulley movement under the action of spiral springs. The pulley device is shown in Fig. 2. The pulley comprises a central disc part, and lateral rollers 6, 6<1>. Wire loops. 8, 8<1> with their ends fastened to the plate 3 are carried in spiral grooves in the rollers 6. 6<1>, and spiral grooves in the central disc part carry a wire loop 9 which is attached to the conductor. Springs 1, 1<1>, fitted between the plate 3 and a yoke 4, are adapted to be compressed when the loops 8, 8<1> are wound on the rollers 6, 6<1>. Fig. 4 shows the device V in position in an overhead line, the end of an incoming conductor 14 being joined by the loop 9 to the device V under a, supporting yoke 12, and the outgoing conductor 15 being similarly connected under the yoke 13. In a modified construction where the conductors 14, 15 are to be electrically separated, insulators are incorporated in the conductors and an auxiliary supporting ropte, insulated from the supporting rope T, is fitted.
