Signalling over power circuits.-In a power Signalling over power circuits.-In a power transmission system in which.the overhead system is connected to the power-stations by a length of cable, this cable is provided with an additional conductor of wire or metallic tape which throughout its length remains as close as possible to one core and as remote as possible from the other or others. In the example shown, the additional conductor b is arranged between the core c and the lead sheath. One end of the conductor at one station is earthed through a telephone q or, according to the Provisional Specification, wireless telephone, and the other end is earthed. Similar arrangements are made at the other station. Signal currents are induced more strongly in one core than in the other so that a current flows round the loop formed by one core and the other or others and induces currents in the additional conductor at the receiver. Specification 7283/91 is referred to.
