Abstract
329,125. Fawdry, F. W. April 18, 1929. Systems of supporting cables and conductors.- Catenary supporting wires 1 for an overhead conductor 4 in electric tramways and railways are carried on insulators 2 spaced widely at each rigid support, and are tied together by wires or clips 3 between the supports so that the catenary wires lie parallel and close together for the greater part of the span. At curves one catenary wire may be fixed centrally over the track at the supporting structure, the second wire being attached at a point outside the track and adapted to act as a slewing bridle for the central wire. When it is desired to change the direction of the conductor 4, resiliently mounted deflector arms 5, 6, one of which may be of flexible wire, are attached to the catenary wires at points 7 near the insulators 2.
