A cross-span member for an overhead traction system consists of a rod of thermosetting or coldsetting synthetic resin, of the kind which sets to a hard infusible and insoluble condition, reinforced with glass filaments lying substantially parallel to one another throughout the length of the rod and distributed throughout the crosssection of the rod. The rod may comprise 55-60% by weight glass, and the resin may be a polyester resin. The rod may carry one or more collars to increase the leakage path along its surface. Specification 816,926 is referred to.
