Abstract
841,090. Supporting conductors. BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDER'S CABLES Ltd. Dec. 2, 1958 [Dec. 3, 1957], No. 37649/57. Drawings to Specification. Class 36. A cantilever structure for an overhead electric traction system, comprising an inclined strut, a horizontally extending tie rod, and an inner registration arm, each of resin-bonded glass fibre, as disclosed in Specification 821,264, is modified for use on 25 kV systems by enclosing at least part of the length of each of the resinbonded fibreglass members in a tube of glass or ceramic material sealed at each end by a bush of elastomeric material such as neoprene or silicone rubber. The bush may fit directly onto the fibreglass member, or onto a compression sleeve or terminal fitting on the end of said member, as described in Specification 828,958.
