918,317. Supporting cables. SPRING CO. Ltd., N. H. K. Feb. 24, 1961, No. 6940/61. Class 36. In a catenary support system for a trolley wire 3 the equivalent mass and spring constant of the system are distributed equally along the wire by replacing some at least of the plain hangers 4 by composite hangers 4<SP>1</SP> each of which comprise an appropriate mass, an appropriate spring, and a damping means. A hanger casing 11 (Fig. 6) is clamped to the messenger wire 2 and contains a movable mass 8 clamped to the trolley wire 3, and connected by a spring 9 with the top of the casing 11. The frictional resistance of a dished member 10 serves to damp out oscillations of the trolley wire, and may be replaced by a conventional dashpot.
