Abstract

[Also in Division H1] In a moulded electrically insulating tubular component 6, provided with a screw threaded portion 2 on the exterior or interior thereof, the screw threaded portion is first moulded and cured or partially cured, whereafter the remainder of the component is formed thereon from resin impregnated glass fibre. The screw threaded portion 2 may be moulded in two semi-cylindrical halves from polyester resin/ glass fibre dough moulding compound which are then assembled on a male former whereafter windings of glass fibre impregnated with epoxy resin are applied over the former and the portion 2. The portion 2 may alternately be moulded from resin pre-impregnated chopped strand glass matt, and may also be transfer or injection moulded and may comprise the same resin as the remainder of the component.
