Abstract
943,427. Moulding sleeving. INSULATING COMPONENTS & MATERIALS Ltd. June 20, 1962 [April 12, 1961], No. 13111/61. Heading B5A. An electrical conductor is secured in a slot in a conducting core and insulated therefrom, by moulding, optionally with heat and pressure, a fibrous sleeve impregnated with hardenable synthetic resin in a mould having the internal dimensions of the slot, and inserting the conductor, in the insulator so formed, into the slot. The insulator may be moulded around the conductor itself or around a mandrel 4, which may be polished or plated steel or polytetrafluoroethylene. The resin may be polyester, epoxy or phenolic and inert fillers may be added. Insulators with space for a plurality of conductors (Fig. 2, not shown) are made by wrapping a series of mandrels individually, then wrapping them in a single sleeve before impregnation. The insulator may comprise an integrally moulded wedge.
