Abstract

880,175. Coiling sliver &c. BRITISH NYLON SPINNERS Ltd. May 11, 1960 [June 23, 1959], No. 21401/59. Class 120(3) Apparatus for coiling a fibrous structure, e.g. yarn, tow or sliver, into a container comprises a circular inwardly-facing track fitting closely above the container and a rotatable mounting for one or more rolls rotating within and contacting the track to form a nip or nips for the yarn &c. As shown, a nylon monofilament yarn 25 is led from a package 1, through the centre of a rotated base plate 5, through a guide 19, between a rubber-surfaced, freely rotatable nip roll 7 and a fixed track 9, through guide 21, between another roll 7 and track 9, outside of a deflecting blade 13, thence into coils within a canister 23 which is fitted by a rubber seal 29 into a vacuum tube so that suction applied to a gauge bottom 27 ensures that the coils are tightly packed.
