Abstract

879,552. Sliding windows. PERVIS PRODUCTS Ltd. Nov. 16, 1959, No. 38777/59. Class 20(3) [Also in Group XXV] A sashless window structure comprises a frame 1, Fig. 1, having a sill 4, jambs 2, 3 and a head piece 5, a slidable pane 8 mounted therein and having locking means comprising an element 29, Fig. 6, pivotally secured to the pane so as to be swingable in a plane parallel thereto, and a plate 33 secured to the sill 4 and positioned so as to register with the element 29 which on engagement with the plate locks the pane, there being strips 40, 41 of flexible material carried by the head piece 5 in yieldable engagement with the pane to seal it relative to the head piece. The structure has a fixed pane 9 in at least partial overlapping relationship with the pane 8, sliding contact between the panes being maintained by a spring strip element .39, Fig. 5, projecting into the central region of a channel 7 of the head piece in which the upper pane edges are housed. The sill plate 33 has projections 38 and edges 35, 36 such that the element 29 may be locked relative to the plate in the regions of the edges 36 whilst being free to be swung upwardly from the plate in the region of the edge 35.
