Class 106(5) [Also in Groups XVII, XXVIII and XXX] A device for feeding measured quantities of powder to a packaging apparatus (see Group XVII) comprises a hopper 95 from which the powder is raised by screw feed means 96 for discharge through an aperture 101 into a cup 102. An agitator 161 rotates about the feed tube 97. The cup is carried by an arm 104 on a shaft 105, the latter being movable horizontally in slots and having a pinion engaged by a rack 113. When the rack moves to the left, as shown, the cup moves horizontally beneath a blade 160 to level its contents and is then inverted by pivoting of the arm to discharge into a funnel 90 extending between the package webs 83. The filler unit shown is duplex.
