Abstract

876,579. Permanent magnets. TELEFUNKEN G.m.b.H. Dec. 19, 1957 [Dec. 19, 1956], No. 39487/57. Class 35. [Also in Group XL (a)] A beam centring magnet for a cathode-ray tube consists of a rotatable permanent magnet 1, Fig. 2, with polepieces 6, 7 shaped to fit the neck of the tube, and a ferromagnetic member for rendering the field symmetrical is in the form of a leaf spring 8, or, Fig. 4, in the form of a tensioning spring 15. The free ends of the leaf spring 8 may be bent outwardly instead of inwardly. The angles α, # shown in Fig. 2 are approximately 100 degrees and 10 degrees respectively. In Fig. 4 a plastic sleeve 18 is provided over the spring 15 to protect the envelope of the tube. The springs may be, however, of non-magnetic material, e.g. bronze, but carrying ferromagnetic material.
