Abstract
799,548. Magnetic structures. METROCUTANIT, Ltd. Nov. 16, 1955 [Aug. 31, 1955], No. 32848/55. Class 38 (2). A holding magnet comprises a bar of permanent magnetic oxide material 3 having a substantially rectangular, Figs. 3, 4, or triangular, Figs. 5, 6 (not shown), cross-section enclosed on all but its holding face by a soft iron member 4. The holding ends of the iron member may have a thickness of from <SP>1</SP>/ 20 to <SP>1</SP>/ 40 of the width of the holding surface of the permanent magnet bar, and be separated from that surface by small air gaps 5. The edges of both bar and iron member may be bevelled. The permanent magnetic material may be 6Fe 2 O 3 BaO, or may contain strontium or lead.
