Abstract

800,242. Magnetic compositions. LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS-G .m.b.H. May 25, 1956 [May 28, 1955], No. 16229/56. Class 38 (2). A material exhibiting permanent magnetism can be represented by the formula PbO: yFe 2 O 3 ; xSiO 2 , where y is between 3.5 and 5.2 and x is between 0.02 and 0.7. The value of coercivity may be chosen in the range 100 to 4000 oersteds by appropriate selection of the value of x. A suitable material is made by grinding suitable proportions of starting oxides in water for 2 hours, drying, presintering in air at 950‹ C., regrinding for 2 hours, redrying and sintering in air at 1100‹ C. The material may be made magnetically anisotropic.
