Abstract

726,328. Magnetic structures. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Jan. 9, 1953 [Jan. 14, 1952], No. 721/53. Class 38 (2). [Also in Group XV] The members of a set of magnetic elements are made of permanent magnetic material containing non-cubic crystals of polyoxides of iron and at least one of the metals barium, strontium and lead, which latter metals may in part be replaced by calcium, and having a retentivity Br which measured in Gauss is less than four times the coercivity BHC measured in Oersted. Each element has a pair of substantially parallel faces and a height the square of which is less than the area of each of said faces, the direction of magnetization being coincident at least locally with the height dimension of the element. The direction of magnetization may be different in different parts of each element (Fig. 3) and these parts may be of congruent shape (Fig. 2). Specification 708,127 is referred to.
