823,557. Magnetic compositions. INTERNATIONAL COMPUTERS & TABULATORS Ltd. June 11, 1957 [June 12, 1956], No. 18102/56. Class 38 (2). A ferromagnetic ferrite exhibiting a rectangular hysteresis loop is made by sintering together MgO, MnO 2 , Fe 2 O 3 in the relative proportions by weight which fall within the area WXYZ of the triaxial diagram shown in Fig. 3, or other compounds in such proportions as to give a similar result. The starting materials were milled in water, dried prefired at 1000‹ C. for 1 hour in nitrogen or air, reground, mixed with an organic binder, moulded and fired at 139‹ to 1500‹ C. for a half to one hour in nitrogen or air. Magnetic properties are tabulated for a number of ferrites made from materials in different starting proportions indicated by the points A, B, C, D, E.
