751,623. Magnetic compositions. STEATITE RESEARCH CORPORATION, and STEATITMAGNESIA AKT.-GES. Feb. 2, 1954 [Nov. 27, 1953], No. 3126/54. Drawings to Specification. Class 38 (2). A ferromagnetic ferrite material of spinel structure with low loss at high frequencies is made from a batch of material of which 97-99 per cent consists of nickel-zinc ferrite comprising 58-80 per cent iron oxide, 2-40 per cent zinc oxide and 2-40 per cent nickel oxide, there being an addition of 0.1-30 per cent of cobalt oxide, the cobalt oxide being present to the extent of 1-60 per cent of the nickel oxide all precentages being by weight. In a modification this material may form 90-99 per cent of a composite material of which 1-10 per cent consists of manganese oxide. Up to 3 per cent of oxide of other metals such as calcium magnesium, titanium, oraluminium may be present in both cases. The Q and initial permeability values at 1 MC are given for a number of materials of different, specified proportions of ZaO, NiO and Fe 2 0 3 , with and without 0.7 per cent of CoO and of 2 per cent MnO and 0.7 per cent CoO. The material is made by mixing ground oxides with water and an organic binding agent and firing in air at between 1100 and 1350‹ C.
