Abstract

671,788. Magnetic compositions. STEATITE RESEARCH CORPORATION. May 23, 1950, No. 12916/50. Class 38 (ii). A ferromagnetic ferrite composition with a specific resistance of not less than 10<SP>8</SP> ohms-cm., a dielectric p.f. of less than 2 per cent and a firing temperature range below 1400‹ C. has the general formula xMO.Fe 2 O 3 , where M represents two or more other bivalent metal oxides one of which is magnesium oxide, the others form less than 10 per cent by weight of the composition and x/y is between 1.2 and 3. The other oxides may be of manganese, copper or zinc. Examples are given of the production of suitable compositions by grinding together, moulding and firing the following materials: MgO, MnO, Fe 2 O 3 ; MgO, MnO, ZnO, Fe 2 O 3 ; MgO, MgF 2 , MnO, ZnO.
