Abstract

974,010. Magnetic holding devices. DEUTSCHE EDELSTAHLWERKE A.G. Dec. 4, 1961 [Dec. 5, 1960], No. 43373/61. Heading H1P. An auxiliary device for a switchable magnetic clamping plate comprises an assembly of closely packed permanent magnetic plates 1 alternating with soft iron plates 2 and magnetized across their thickness and so disposed that the edges form a surface 5, 6 containing attenuating bandlike poles, this assembly being mounted on a soft iron base-plate 3 which permits the device thus formed to be held on the switchable magnetic clamping plate. In the Figure a brass shim 4 is inserted between the iron plate 3 and the barium ferrite and soft iron assembly. A second soft iron plate 8 with brass shim 12 may be added to the assembly to provide a locating ledge 9 for the work-pieces.
