Abstract
904,055. Magnetic workholders. PANTON, J. R., and WEBB, A., [trading as PANTON & WEBB]. Oct. 13, 1960 [July 15, 1959], No. 24381/59. Class 35. A magnetic workholder comprises a magnetic block composed of permanent magnets and magnetic flux transmitting pieces, which are alternately placed parallel to one another in slots of one or more comb-shaped spacing members, which may be thin phosphor bronze strip, and moulded together with an epoxy or polyester resin. If desired, the magnets and flux transmitting pieces may be inclined to one another. The block is slidably mounted relative to a work-holding surface composed of a number of spaced polepieces set into a layer of non- magnetic material as described in Specification 829,101. To construct the block the magnets and flux transmitting pieces are assembled on a jig, placed on a polythene sheet with two polythene sheets at the sides and the resin is poured into the spaces in the block.
