Abstract

880,914. Brush holders. MAYER (LONDON) Ltd., L. S. Aug. 11, 1960 [July 2, 1959], No. 22720/59. Class 19. A brush holder comprises a supporting part 2 and at least one projection 3 having at least one permanent magnet 5 (or piece of ferro-magnetic material) secured thereto. One or more brushes 8 are provided with a piece of ferromagnetic material 9 (or a permanent magnet) so that the brush may be held by magnetic attraction to the projection 3. As shown, a magnet 5 is held in a dove-tail groove 4 by two adhesively secured end pieces 6, and the brush 8 has a strip 9 of ferromagnetic material secured to it by screws 10. Preferably the groove 4 is deeper than the thickness of the magnet so that a shallow channel is provided with which the strip 9 can register. A hingedly attached triangular loop 7 is provided on the holder for hanging. The piece of ferromagnetic material may be of T-shaped section having the stem part secured in a slot in an end of the back of the brush.
