Abstract

A razor in combination with a pair of resilient clips or arms 6, 7 which snap fit or lockingly engage over a ledge 3 of a shaving soap dispenser 8. The arms being, in one embodiment, attached to a cap (2) covering a head of the razor (1). Clips 6 and 7 may alternatively be attached to a container or ring in which the razor is inserted, or an arm may be attached to the razor handle (as at 11 in Fig. 4) with further magnetic attachment through magnet 12. Clips or arms 6, 7 & 11 may be attached to the razor by magnetism or adhesive. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Razor This invention relates to razors.
When shaving soap in aerosal cans first came on the market, many felt that they would never gain a significant market share. For who, it was reasoned, would buy such expensive cans and expensive technology, when one could buy a simple inexpensive and long-lasting bar of shaving soap.
The exact opposite has occurred, and today bars of shaving soap command only a miniscule share of the market and indeed are often quite difficult to find in commercial outlets. As anyone who uses a razor must know, they are inconvenient because they have a tendency to be lost between uses and contribute to untidyness in the bathroom.
The present invention seeks to provide a razor that can be easily stored between uses and prevent the razor becoming lost or contribute to an untidy appearance in the bathroom, and can be stored between uses on a conventional shaving soap dispenser.
Although the present invention is primarily directed to any novel integer or step, or combination of integers or steps, herein disclosed and/or as shown in the accompanying drawings, nevertheless, according to one particular aspect of the present invention to which, however, the invention is in no way restricted, there is provided a razor in combination with mounting means for mounting the razor on a ledge, and attaching means for attaching the razor to the mounting means.
The mounting means may comprise clip means for mounting the razor on the ledge.
The clips means may comprise a pair of arms adapted resiliently to lock over first and second substantially parallel sides of the ledge.
The razor and clip means may be parts of a unitary member.
The razor may include spacer means for spacing the razor from a surface of a substantially cylindrical can having said ledge.
In one embodiment the attaching means comprises adhesive means for attaching the clip means to the razor.
In another embodiment the clip means are on cap means located over a portion of the razor.
In a further embodiment the clip means are provided on a substantially circular ring, the razor being inserted through the ring to be supported free standingly.
In a yet further embodiment the clip means are provided on a tube receiving and supporting the razor.
The attaching means may comprise magnetic means for attaching the razor to a magnetig surface.
The magnetic means may be a magnetic member that is secured to the razor by adhesive.
Alternatively, the magnetic means may be magnetic particles impregnated in a portion ofthe razor.
Thus a razor according to the present invention is provided with various means to attach the razorto a conventional shaving soap dispenser or can or other similar suitable surface. The attaching structures may be resilient clips which locate about ledges on the dispensers, or magnets on the razor that attach the razor to a metallic can. The magnet can be impregnated in the razor or be attached thereto by adhesive. The clips themselves are secured to the body of the razor by adhesive or by additional magnets. Alternatively the clips may be unitary with the razor. As a further alternative, the clips can be secured to a tube or ring mechanically depending from the clips into which the razor can slidingly locate; orto a cap, also mechanically depending from the clips, into which the head of the razor can be located. The razor may also have protruberances, the purpose of which is to space the body of the razor from any surface to which the razor is attached and hence stabilise the mounting of the razor.
The invention is illustrated, merely by way of example, in the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 is an elevational view showing a first embodiment of a razor according to the present invention mounted on a conventional shaving soap dispenser; Figure 2 is an elevational view similar to Figure 1 showing two further embodiments of a razor according to the present invention mounted on a conventional shaving soap dispenser; Figures 3 to 6 are elevational views of further embodiments of razors according to the present invention; and Figure 7 is a view of the razor of Figure 6 partially cut away.
Throughout the drawings like parts have been designated by the same reference numerais.
Referring first to Figure 1 there is shown a conventional shaving soap dispenser, for example, a substantially cylindrical can to which is attached a razor 1 according to the present invention. The dispenser has a rim or ledge 3 having an upper or first side 4 and a substantially parallel lower or second side 5. The head (not shown) of the razor 1 is a snap-fit into a cap 2 which is adapted lockingly to receive the head of the razor. Attached to the cap 2 is a pair of resilient clips or arms 6,7 the purpose of which is to snap-fit or lockingly engage over the ledge 3, i.e. the arms 6,7 resiliently lock over the first and second sides 4, 5. The arms 6,7 and the cap 2 can be made of any appropriate material, for example, moulded plastics material and can be made as a unitary body.
Figure 2 shows two alternative embodiments of a razor according to the present invention. The arms 6, 7 attach to either a substantially circular ring 11 (as shown on the right) or a tube 10 (as shown on the left). The tube 10 or the ring 11 have openings therein that allow a user to insert a handle 15 of the razor 1 into the tube or ring respectively thus providing storage of the razor in a free standing manner. In Figure 2 the razor is shown with a head 13.
Figure 3 shows another embodiment of a razor according to the present invention. Here, instead of a cap located over the head 13 of the razor, having arms 6,7 as in Figure 1, here the arms are directly attached to the handle 15. Any suitable means 16 for attaching the arms to the handle can be used, for example, adhesive or magnets. If the latter is chosen, one could, for example, provide the handle 15 with an impregnation of a metallic material (discussed more fully below) or place a metallic strip on the handle.
Figure 4 shows another embodiment of a razor according to the present invention. Here, a single clip or arm 11 is placed on the handle 15 and a protuberance 12 is placed below the arm 11. The arm 11 can locate over any suitable mounting ledge, for example, the ledge 3 of the dispenser 8 and a protuberence 12 serves to abut the surfaces of the dispenser to act as spacing means so as to stabilise the razor on the dispenser by preventing it from swinging excessively about the ledge 3. Again the arm 11 or the protuberence 12 can be manufactured by any suitable means, for example, unitary moulding with the handle 15 or attachment to the handle 15 by adhesive or magnets as described above.
Figure 5 shows another embodiment of a razor according to the present invention similar to that of Figure 4 except that the protuberence 12 is a magnet. If the razor is mounted on a metallic surface, such as it would be if mounted upon a shaving soap dispenser, the magnetic attraction between the metallic surface and the protuberence 12 adds additional stability to the mounted razor.
Figures 6 and 7 show another embodiment of a razor according to the present invention with magnetic particles 14 impregnated in the handle 15.
Part of the handle 15 is shown cut away in Figure 7 so as to illustrate better these particles. Such impregnated particles can serve any of the magnetic functions referred to above or alternatively can, in conjunction with the head 13 of the razor be used as the arm 11 is used above, i.e. to constitute the sole mounting meansforthe razor.
Although the invention is here described with reference to several embodiments, this division is for illustrative purposes only. In particular, one can certainly use structure from one embodiment advantageously with that of another.
Thus, for example, a first magnet may be attached to the razor and a second magnet to the clip or arms, the magnets being such that the magnetic force of one effects attachment of the clip or arms to the razor.
