Abstract

874,938. Moulding blanks from wood particles. FAHRNI, F. June 3, 1960 [July 3, 1959], No. 19673/60. Class 87(2). Loose particular material, e.g. wood chippings, is formed into preliminary blanks in apparatus which comprises at least one material feeding point having cauls or plates moving beneath it, two fixed parallel side walls, and transverse walls movable between the side walls by driving means ; pairs of said transverse walls being spaced apart and connected together and releasable means being provided to connect one transverse wall of each pair to said driving means. A plate 16 is located beneath transverse walls 4, 5 which are connected by chains 12 and are attached respectively to driving members 13, 14 releasably connected by fingers 18 to an intermittently movable chain 7 so that plate 16 and walls 4, 5 are moved along between side walls 15. At the feeding station the mould drive is taken over by a uniformly moving chain 6, a finger (not shown) engaging opening 17 and the action of fingers 18 being supressed. The material from hopper 2 differs from that in hoppers 1, 3 and after passing the hoppers, fingers 18 re-engage members 13, 14 and the mould is transported at increased speed on to the base 20 of a preliminary press having a piston or plunger 19. The resultant blank is then transferred to a multiple tier press. Chain 6 may be intermittently movable. Specification 608,252 is referred to.
