Abstract
340,883. Packeting cigarettes. UNIVERSELLE CIGARETTEN-MASCHINENFABRIK J. C. MULLER & CO., 48, Zwickauerstrasse, Dresden, Germany. March 20, 1930, No. 8968. Convention date, July 20, 1929. [Class 94 (i).] Apparatus for effecting the preliminary arrangement of cigarettes for packeting comprises hoppers 2 arranged in juxtaposition and provided with vertical partitions 3, 3<1>. The top portions of the partitions 3<1>, which are connected by a member 8, are vertically reciprocated by eccentrics 5 in order to facilitate the passage of the cigarettes into the spaces between the partitions. The spaces are closed at the base by a plate 10, and a doubleacting series of plungers 12, 13 is reciprocated to eject, in succession, the lowermost rows of cigarettes through apertures 14 into slots 21 in fixed plates 20. The slots are closed by a slide plate 22, which is actuated at a suitable moment to move horizontally so that slots 30 register with the slots 21, and allow the cigarettes to fall into pockets 31 in members 32 on an endless chain 33.
