Abstract
872,599. Embroidery cutting machines. TSCHERNE, A. Aug. 16, 1957 [Aug. 22, 1956; Nov. 14, 1956; July 4, 1957], No. 25966/57. Class 31 (1). [Also in Group XXIV] In a machine for cutting embroidered material along a scalloped embroidered edge comprising a power-driven circular cutter and two pairs of driven feed rollers, one pair of feed rollers serving for conveying an embroidered web of material and the other pair of feed rollers for conveying a cut-off web of unembroidered material, at least one of the pairs of feed rollers exerts a variable pull on the respective web in dependence on the feeding resistance due to protective tongues behind which the cutter rotates, and the follow-up feed of the scalloped embroidered edge against the circular cutter is effected solely by means of the varying pull on the material webs when the latter are separated from each other. As shown, embroidered material is fed through an adjustable gap 60 formed by extensions 62, 63 of guide members 1, 1<SP>1</SP>, and has a scalloped embroidered portion F<SP>1</SP> severed therefrom by means of a powerdriven circular cutter 3, the scalloped edges F being protected from the cutter by means of tongues 64 on the extensions 62, 63. The embroidered and unembroidered portions F<SP>1</SP>, L respectively are continuously separated from each other by means of power-driven feed rollers 11, 12 with which spring-pressed rubber rollers co-operate. The feed roller 11 is rotatable between clutch discs 15, 15<SP>1</SP> mounted on a driven shaft 16, and the clutch disc 151 is movable axially against the end of the roller 11 by means of a flange 18 against which adjustable pressure is exerted by means of a dog 36 secured to a rod 38 on which is pivotally mounted a spring-influenced double lever 37 connected by means of linkage to a pivotally mounted tensionsensing feeler 40 which is pressed against the scalloped edge of the portion F<SP>1</SP>. A shearing plate 51 (not shown) co-operates with the cutter. An adjustable guide member 52, Fig. 4, deflects the portion L over the roller 11. The roller 11 and its co-operating roller may be geared to each other. The cutter may be serrated.
