640,333. Pivoted-blade cutting-machines. HALL, C. T., and MOLINS MACHINE CO., Ltd. March 30, 1948, No. 9004. [Class 31 (i)] An apparatus for severing sheets from continuously-moving webs, of the kind in which a knife rotates on a pivot and moves in a plane substantially normal to the plane of the web and cuts across the web against another knife or counter-knife which is fixed to a stationary part of the apparatus, is characterized in that the counter-knife 4 comprises a cutting blade 20 spring-urged to cause it to intersect with the rotating knife (not shown) which presses it back against the spring 23 during cutting to enable the moving knife to pass, whereby close co-operation between the edges is effected throughout the cutting operation. The inclination of the blade 20 may be adjusted by screw 24. The material is fed to the cutters through feed rollers, one of which is shown at 2. Specifications 165,891, [Class 31 (i)], and 432,322 are referred to.
