Abstract

1354924 Cutting webs MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG-NURNBERG AG 10 Aug 1971 [11 Aug 1970] 37588/71 Heading B8R A web 1, Fig. 1, or 6, Fig. 2, is fed past an auxiliary cutter 3 or 8 which cuts a strip off the web, the strip being directed over turning bars 9 to bring it over the remainder of the web, the assembly then passing between a knife 10, Figs. 1, 2 and 5, and a cutting roller 4 having peripheral cutting grooves of which one is aligned with the knife. In Fig. 1, the knife cuts the web remainder into two, so that the original web is finally cut into three equal strips. In Fig. 2, the knife cuts both parts of the web into two so that the original web is finally cut into four equal strips. A plurality of webs may be supplied, in which case an auxiliary cutter is provided for each web, but the entire assembly is cut by a common cutter combination 10, 4. The strips pass from the cutter 10, 4 to a former 2 which brings them all together into superposed relationship. The former is adjustable laterally according to the web width and number of strips to be cut from the web. The roller 4 is adjustable laterally independently of the former, and comprises a supporting shaft carrying a tubular casing on which are mounted grooved cutting rings. The shaft and casing may be adjustable as a unit, or the casing be adjustable along the shaft.
