Class 120(2) Yarn guiding means for textile spinning or like machines comprise an assembly of two notched members coaxially mounted upon the tip of a spindle and rotatable together relative to the spindle such that the yarn, as it is being led successively through the notches of said members in its passage from the delivery rollers to the traveller or the like, is wrapped about a surface which lies between the notched members through a complete turn or part thereof as determined by the relative angular positions of the notches. In the form shown the notched member assembly consists of axially spaced discs 13, 14 fixed on a sleeve 15 rotating on the spindle 12; the discs have notches 131 and 141 disposed as shown and yarn passes successively through the notch 131, wraps around the surface of the sleeve 15 and through a notch 141, the extent of the wrap depending upon which notch 141 is used. Combined with the upper disc 13 is a guide eye 11 which may as shown take the form of a wire helix attached to the disc 13. In a further form in which the lower disc has only one notch the discs are relatively adjustable so that the desired angular relationship can be achieved. If a yarn package is also carried by the spindle, the diameter of the discs 13 and 14 is slightly less than the bore of the package tube so that the latter may be freely withdrawn at doffing.
