Abstract

900,270. Twisting yarn. ONDERZOEKING- SINSTITUUT RESEARCH N.V. Oct. 22, 1959 [Oct. 23, 1958], No. 35875/59. Classes 120 (2) and 120 (3). Apparatus for twisting yarn from a crosswound bobbin which has been wound at a traversing ratio of between 6.0 and 6.3 revolutions of the bobbin per reciprocatory stroke of the yarn up and down the bobbin, comprises an uptwisting spindle 2 for the bobbin, a potshaped member 13 which is mounted for rotation about the spindle and in the manner of a cap covering a bobbin on the spindle, at least one thread guiding eyelet 15 attached to the rim of the pot-shaped member and being positioned to be substantially opposite the midpoint of a bobbin on the spindle and means 17, 18, 19 for drawing off the yarn from the bobbin through the eyelet. The balloon may be restricted by an eyelet 16 mounted at the level of the top of the bobbin. The eyelets are preferably made of material of high thermal conductivity such as stainless steel. Several uptwisters may feed yarn to a ring spinning spindle to produce a cord. The pot 13 is rotatably carried on a spigot 10 with leaf springs 11 gripping a bore in the spindle 2 and is braked by felt rings 14.
