867,579. Valves. SEPARATOR A.B. Jan. 16, 1958 [Jan. 16, 1957], No. 1550/58. Class 135. [Also in Group XXVIII] A valve for connecting a branch pipe line to a main pipe line comprises a housing 1 held by a clamp 3 to the main pipe 2 which has a port 11 in register with a passage 7 in the housing 1. Retained in a recess 14 in the valve housing is a rotary valve member comprising two segmental portions 6, 8 to the smaller 8 of which is connected the branch pipe line 9. The segment part 8 has a centre pin 12 which engages a hole 13 in the part 6, and has a throughflow passage 10. The extent of rotation of the valve member 6, 8 is limited in one direction by the pipe 9 and in the other direction by a pin 15, and in the former position the pipes 2 and 9 are connected by the passages 7, 10 and in the latter the passage 7 is closed and the segment part 8 complete with pipe line 9 can be removed from the part 6 and withdrawn from the housing 1 for cleaning purposes. The parts 6 and 8 may be held together magnetically.
