835,937. Valves. BARTZ, G., [trading as BARTZ KOMM.-GES., H.]. April 29, 1957 May 2, 1956], No. 13581/57. Class 135. A multi-way valve for reversing the direction of flow of fluid to an hydraulic control system comprises a plug formed with four rectilinear passages a, b, c and d inclined at angles to the plug axis, the apertures a1 cl and dl at one of the ends of the passages lying in a transverse plane YY and the apertures a2, b2, C2 and d2 at the other ends of the passages being disposed two above and two below the transverse plane, the plug co-operating with a casing having four apertures A, B, C, and D, apertures A and B lying in the same plane and apertures C and D lying, respectively, below and above the plane. The apertures in the plug are so arranged relative to the apertures in the casing that when the plug is rotated so that the aperture al co-operates with the casing aperture A, this aperture is linked with aperture C and aperture B is linked with D. On rotating the plug further until the aperture dl co-operates with aperture A, this aperture is then linked with aperture D and aperture B is linked with C. If apertures C and D are assumed to be the supply ports to the hydraulic system a reversal of direction of fluid flow is thus achieved. Further rotation of the plug to a position where the aperture al comes between the two casing apertures D and C blanks off all the plug apertures, thereby closing the valve. The plug may be provided with a recess so that in the closed position apertures C and D are interconnected.
