Abstract

920,710. Valves. QUICKFIT & QUARTZ Ltd., and D. CURTIS. Sept. 16, 1960 [Oct. 12, 1969], No. 34571/59. Class 135. A fluid flow control valve comprises glass plates 1 and 2 having tubes 3 and 4 extending from one side of the plates respectively and smooth flat faces 8, 9 forming the other side of the plates. A glass shutter disc 7, provided between the plates, has smooth surfaces abutting the surfaces 8, 9 of the plates, the axes of the plates, disc and tubes being coaxial and the disc being capable of rotation about this axis. The smooth surfaces of each plate are provided with an orifice 12, 13 communicating with the bores of the tubes and out of alignment with these bores and the disc is provided with a passage 14 which connects or disconnects the bores on rotation of the disc about its axis. The plates and discs are clamped together by three equispaced bolts 15 provided with loading- springs 17. In a modification, one orifice of the plates is aligned with its bore and is in constant communication with an inclined passage in the disc while the other orifice is out of alignment with the bore as above.
