Abstract

920,698. Valves. QUICKFIT & QUARTZ Ltd., and D. CURTIS. Sept. 19, 1960 [Oct. 12, 1959], No. 34572/59. Class 135. A fluid flow control valve comprises two glass disc members 1, 2 formed with smoothed flat abutting faces 5, 6 and having tubes 3, 4 extending from the opposite sides, the axes of the tubes and discs being coaxial. The faces 5, 6 are provided with orifices 9, 10, offset and equidistant from the common axis, communicating with the bores 7, 8 of the tubes, respectively. The discs are relatively rotatable to connect and disconnect the bores. The discs may be pressed together by an annular ring 11 secured to one disc and carrying spring arms 14. Alternatively the clamping may be by a V-shaped annular member engaging chamfered sides 15, 16 and secured to one disc. In a further modification, bolts extend through holes in one disc and arcuate slots in the other and are screwed into a retaining ring contacting the other disc. The retaining ring may be made of nylon.
