Abstract
A high-strength, heat resistant alloy has a composition, in per cent by weight, in the following range: Ta 0.5-7.0; impurities including Fe not exceeding 0.5 in total; Cr the remainder. The alloy may also contain one or more of W, Ti, V, Nb and Mo 0.1-7.0 or W and/or Mo 1.0-7.0 and Ti and/or Nb 0.1-2.0 provided not less than 85.0 of Cr is present. The alloy may be aged in the range 900 DEG C to 1200 DEG C and this may be preceded by solution treatment in the range 1200 DEG C to 1600 DEG C.
