Abstract

865,039. Bottle closures. SALMINEN, P. V. L. Dec. 15, 1959 [Dec. 17, 1958], No. 42526/59. Class 125(3). A bottle closure comprises an annular top portion 14 connected to a skirt 11 and to an inner portion 1 by means of annular web portions 15, 16 of thinner cross-section than the top portion. The inner portion 1 is connected to a middle portion 2 by an inclined conical intermediate portion 3. The skirt 11 is formed with a bead 12 which fits under a lip on the outside of the bottle neck, the underside of the bead being tapered and formed with sharpedged annular ribs 17 which are permanently deformed by any tool used in removing the closure. The inner portion 1 is provided with evenly-spaced axial parallel reinforcing ribs 10. In modifications, the underside of the bead may be formed with sharp-edged radial ribs or closely-spaced small projections. The closure may be made from polyethylene.
