864,642. Pinch valves. PROCEA PRODUCTS Ltd., BALL, N. G., and HIGGS, R. A. Nov. 1, 1957 [Nov. 1, 1956], No. 33384/56. Class 135. [Also in Group XXX] A pinch valve for controlling the flow of powdered or granular materials from shoots, cyclones &c., comprises a casing 7, Fig. 1, clamping between its end flanges 5, 6 and ring flanges 2, 3 the flanged ends of a moulded rubber sleeve 4, Fig. 2, deformable by means of the simultaneous movement towards each other of parallel arms 8, 9 slidably guided on rods 10 and operably connected together by chains 11, 12 passing over sprocket wheels 13, 14. The arms 8, 9 are normally urged towards each other to close the valve by springs 18, 19 connected to the casing and the arm 8. The valve is opened by pneumatic or hydraulic control mechanism including a cylinder to which pneumatic or hydraulic pressure is admitted to actuate the rod 17 and so open the valve.
