862,283. Bed-settees. BENDIXEN, B. I., and ROSENGREEN, K. Oct. 26, 1959 [Oct. 25, 1958], No. 36155/59. Class 52(2). The back 20 of a settee is pivoted at 22 to swing upwardly and is connected by a strap 38, or lostmotion linkage, to the seat 26 so that the final movement of the back to horizontal position displaces the seat outwardly on its supporting rails 24 in which position it is retained, preferably by a roller 34 riding over a cammed stop 36. A link 30 supports the rear edge of the seat and a stay 40 can hold the back in partly raised position as shown, to give access to. bedding stored behind it, or in the fully raised position to fascilitate bedmaking. In a modification the link 30 is dispensed with and a cam on the rails 24 supports the rear edge of the seat in horizontal position; the actuating strap 38 can also be differently arranged.
