Abstract
719,180. Bed settees; furniture combinations. HENSELER, P. Jan. 28, 1953 [Nov. 11, 1952], No. 2451/53. Classes 52(2) and 52(3) A bed settee comprises a back rest which has stationary parts such as the arm rests and one or more movable parts intermediate thereof, and a seat part which is connected to the movable parts of the back rest so that the seat and back rest parts may be drawn forwardly into bed position. In addition a drawer may be disposed below the seat which when drawn out is interconnected to the seat for simultaneous movement therewith. As shown, the movable part 3 of the back rest is connected to the seat part 11 by straps 8 and a drawer 15 is disposed below the seat part 11. When the drawer 15 is drawn out partially it engages hooks 19 on the seat part 11 and the parts 3, 11 and the drawer 15 move simultaneously until the part 3 engages stops 13. The lid 23 of the drawer is connected thereto at each side by lever mechanism 26, 29, 31, and runways 33 such that when the lid 23 is raised it stays in raised position so that the bedclothes and finally a board 21 may be withdrawn. Further manipulation of the lid 23 brings it into a horizontal position in alignment with the seat to serve as an extension of the bed.
