Abstract

657,945. Bed settees. EKEBERG, J. June 9, 1949, No. 15393. Convention date, June 11, 1948. [Class 52 (ii)] A settee is constructed so as to be convertible into a two-tiered bed. As shown the back squab 1 is carried at each end by arms 4 pivoted to the stationary back and as the squab 1 is swung upwardly it is also rotated through 180 degrees on its longitudinal axis so that in bed position the back of the squab becomes the upper surface of the upper tier bed. The rear part of the seat 10 is connected to the arms 4 by chains 11 &c. so that movement of the arms 4 to upper position raises the seat 10 into horizontal bed position. The arms 7 are pivoted at 8 and may be swung upwardly to support the front of the upper tier bed. A locking pawl 6 is arranged to engage a nose 5 on the arms 4 in the upper position of the latter.
