Abstract
860,693. Mechanical presses. STROJIRNY A SLEVARNY BOHUMIRA SMERALA NARODNI PODNIK. May 30, 1958 [May 30, 1957], No. 17340/58. Class 87(2). An overload protection device for an eccentric press having a ram driven by a connecting rod from drive means, said rod being connected to the ram by a pin rotatable in the ram and provided with an eccentric rotatable in said connecting rod comprises a lever arm connected to the pin, and resilient means disposed between the arm and the ram. A rotatable shaft 2 provided with an eccentric drives a pin 6 which is also provided with an eccentric by means of a connecting rod 3. A lever arm 5, keyed at one end to pin 6, carries a threaded block 9 into which is screwed a bolt 7 which ends in a pivotal thrust bearing mounted on wedge 10. The wedge is slidable on a projection attached to the ram 4 and is positioned against a spring 8. Variation of the distance between the working surface of the ram at the end of its stroke and the axis of shaft 2 is effected by turning bolt 7. The device simultaneously prevents overloading because if the force which shifts the wedge and compresses the spring is exceeded the pin 6 turns and the ram stops ; the spring returns the mechanism to its original position on return of rod 3. In Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown), the spring member is replaced by a piston in a cylinder communicating with a chamber containing a pressure medium.
