Abstract
1,231,579. Pneumatic actuator. INTROL Ltd. Oct.24, 1968 [Nov.1, 1967], No.49704/67. Heading FiP. [Also in Division F2] A power actuator for a valve comprises a reversible casing 11 and an operating spindle having means (e.g. a screw thread 22) for coupling to the valve, the casing housing an operating means (e.g. a diaphragm 14 with an internally screwed boss 15) to be coupled to the spindle at alternative locations (e.g. 19 and 21) according to the disposition of the casing. For operation when the casing illustrated is reversed the blanking plate 23 and the coupling member 12 exchange locations on the casing. The actuator shown is moved by compressed air entering at 6 acting on the diaphragm to compress a spring 1 whose loading is adjustable as at 2. The spring could be replaced by a secondary airpressure, or the diaphragm by a piston and cylinder arrangement.
