Abstract
1285515 Fluid-pressure apparatus J GACHOT and F PERALES 17 Dec 1970 [24 Dec 1969 9 July 1970] 59875/70 Heading F1P A compressed air actuator for carrying out a limited angular displacement of an output shaft 34 comprises two pistons 2 located in a cylinder 1 and each carrying a roller 19, and a lever 37 secured to the output shaft 34 and having forked ends 38 which engage the rollers 19. On the supply of compressed air through an inlet 7, the pistons 2 are forced apart, from the position shown in Fig. 1 to that shown in Fig. 2, thereby causing angular movement of shaft 34 through approximately 90 degrees. Return movements of the pistons and shaft are effected by supplying compressed air to an inlet 8 which is in communication with a longitudinal duct 9. Each piston 2 has a surface 15 which is adapted to be guided by rollers 27, 28 coaxial with output shaft 34. In a modification, outward movement of each piston 2 is effected by a spring 51, Fig. 5, acting on a rod 52. In a further modification, each piston 2 is returned by a spring 51, an aperture 71 being provided in the spring housing. The lever 37 may be replaced by a disc 61, Fig. 7, and a centering member may be formed by a circular plate 81, Fig. 10, of polytetrafluoroethylene which is fixed on the end-face of the piston 2 by screws 82.
