Abstract

255,461. Friederici, A. July 14, 1925, [Convention date]. Metal-working presses. - In an electricallydriven press for forging, punching, riveting or working metal the oscillating lever connected with the tup &c. has its fulcrum adjustable relatively to the work for varying the stroke, and a hydraulic cushioning device of known type is interposed between the operating crank and the arm of the oscillating lever. The crank shaft b driven by the electric motor a operates the oscillating lever h fulcrumed at d and engaging the tup i, the fulcrum d being mounted on a screw spindle k adjustable vertically by a nut operable by a motor m through worm gearing. A pointer n on the tup moves over a scale the reading of which indicates the distance between the upper surface of the anvil and the lower surface of the tup when the latter is in its lowest position for any particular adjustment. The cushioning device between the connecting rod c and forked end of the lever h comprises a piston s, Fig. 3, working in a cylinder p filled with liquid and provided with a part t fitted with a loaded discharge valve and a port u with an inlet valve.
