Abstract

856,080. Hoppers. MEYER, K., [trading as MEYER, J. [Firm of]]. Dec. 11, 1958 [March 8, 1957], No. 39970/58. Class 78 (1). [Also in Group XXIII] Table forks 32 are stacked in a hopper comprising channel members 26, 27 fixed to spaced bottom plates 28, 29 in turn fixed to table plates 30, 31, spaced to form a gap registering with the gap between the plates 28, 29. The prong end of the lowest fork rests on the plates 28, 29 and its handle rests on carriers 33, 34 secured to the member 26, so that the fork is inclined. The member 26 has an opening 35 with which is associated a leafspring 37 to ensure that only the lowest fork is pushed out of the hopper by a reciprocating pusher 21. The member 27 has an opening 36 to accommodate the pusher 21 which is pivoted at 22 on a carriage 18; one arm of the pusher 21 is acted on by a spring 23 and the other arm carries a set-screw 24. The carriage 18 is slidable on a rod 17 and is reciprocated through linkage 16, 15, 13, 12 by a piston in an hydraulic cylinder 2 under the control of a valve 7. Templates 40, 41 moving with the carriage 18 are engaged by follower rollers 42, 43 secured to spindles 48, 49 slidably mounted in bearings 46, 47 and acted on by springs 56, 57. The spindles 48, 49 carry arms 50, 51 at the ends of which are mounted rollers 52, 52, 53, 53 engaging the abrasive bands 54, 55 which treat the edges of the fork. In front of the bands 54, 55 are carriers 60, 61 fixed on cheeks 58, 59 at the same height as the carriers 33, 34. Below the carriers 60, 61 is arranged a shoot 62 leading to a receptacle. In a modification, Fig. 4, for treating table spoons 63, the hopper comprises inclined channel members 66, 67. A leaf spring 72 is carried by parallel links 73 pivoted on the member 66, the lower end of the spring acting as a stripper. An arm 75 secured to the leafspring carries a setting-screw 74 co-operating with a projection 76 on the wall 66 of the hopper.
